Year 6 have had a visit from a special guest – Premier League referee Sam Barrott. Sam is a former Lindley pupil and, in his life before the bright lights of the Premier League, was a Year 3 teacher at Lindley Junior School!

He talked to the pupils about his slightly different career in elite sport and has then spent time outside with each class, taking them through some of the skills that a referee needs to have.

They asked some really interesting and well thought-out questions, from ‘Which football stadium has the best atmosphere?’ to ‘Are there any mistakes you’ve made as a referee that you regret?’ and ‘Do you ever get in the way of the players during a game?’
